Maria Carrera
Executive Producer
Maria Carrera started as a Production Assistant working for free for anyone who would take her. From her first moment on set in 2004, she knew this was the career she wanted. She took any job offered, any client, any rate, and kept a 2nd job working at various bars and nightclubs to ensure she could pay her bills and also entertain her clients when they wanted to host wrap parties.
In 2007 she moved into episodic television, and for 7 years worked her way up to Coordinating Producer of Diners, Drive-ins and Dives, Developmental Partner of new programming, and show runner of other series. Unable to have holes in her calendar, in 2011 she also started taking on individual projects producing commercials for local agencies and growing her family. In 2014 when she decided she needed to pick a path, Maria left the television world and started sureCAN productions. Maria’s sister Christie came on board as her business partner in 2015, and together they have navigated the changing landscapes, budgets, pandemics, and strikes.
Today Maria is a happily married mother of two intelligent and creative humans, and sureCAN productions is proud to have partnerships with talented directors and agencies alike. In the last few years, sureCAN has created spots for Nintendo, American Express, the Univeristy of North Dakota, and countless others. She has filmed in Colombia, Hungary, Scotland, Canada, and over 20 states… She is living the dream!
Maria is super proud of her journey and has hundreds of other details and detours in her story, but those require a patio and a happy hour.
